why was dallas football team called the cowboys??
San francisco- 49er’s?
Kansas City- Chiefs?
Houston (the old team)- Oilers
Pittsburgh- steelers
New England- Patriots
University of Texas- Patriots
University of Miami- Hurricanes
Baltimore- Ravens

Two things.. 1. University of Texas is the Longhorns, not the Patriots.
the Cowboys are probably called the Cowboys because Texas is popular for cowboys.

My son is trying to decide on a college. Must be in Oklahoma. He is shy & really doesn’t have many good friends. Although he looks like a football player he doesn’t participate in any sports. He is smart & made a 27 on ACT. He went to to a week long boys camp & enjoyed it. He mentioned that if that is what a fraternity was like, he may be interested because he liked the feeling of brotherhood & strength in numbers. We live in a small rural community. We found some info on Rice University but that is in Houston, Tx–way too far. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

Rice is a very good school…a 27 may not be good enough, actually, for Rice–he would probably need to break a 30 at least, and have above a 3.6 GPA.
There aren’t any colleges in OK that come close to Rice in terms of prestige, unfortunately. The good colleges in Oklahoma include the University of Tulsa and the University of Oklahoma, which are the only ‘top tier’ universities in OK.

My mother gave my wife and I tickets to go see the aggies play oklahoma st. I do not care for either team, I didn’t even know oklahoma had a state university. I’m a pretty large fan of Alabama University. The aggies have the couch that screwed them.. Either way.

My mom is guilt tripping my wife and I on going to the football game. My friend, who has come over to our house a bunch, is having a barbeque in which he told me 2 weeks before my moms tickets to the aggies football game.

I feel I owe it to my friend to go to his barbeque. I felt especially bad when he and his wife said only one person is coming.

I have tried to reason and say we cant find a baby sitter, and we just don’t want to drive an hour and a half, and get there an hour early, and then drive home. (We are in houston.)

I don’t know what to do. We really are struggling with finding a babysitter. If we went to the barbeque, we cuold takes the children(12 weeks old, and 3 years old)

The game is at 6:30.
Oh, and 2 of her friends will be at the seats right next to our seats. So we can’t just lie and sell or not go.
We have not lied. The truth is that we really are having a hard time finding a baby sitter. We’ve already canceled plans for barbeque to go to this football game, so I can’t lie about the barbeque and say they were made before.

We have not lied.

You have done nothing but lie and that is why she keeps on bugging you about it. Why not tell her the truth? No. 1 – you already made other plans weeks ago; and that you also don’t care to watch that game as you don’t care about either team, anyway.

Then ask her if she wants the tickets back to give to someone else or if you should just give them away.

My son tells me the truth about things and I don’t get mad and I certainly don’t stop loving him. I’m glad he’s honest. And sometimes he cannot do what I have asked him to do or want him to do. That’s life. Your mom should understand and I bet honesty will be the way to get her to "get it".

At a D1 school such as University of Houston or UT (Longhorns)…

I have been out of high school 2 years and I’ve been out of football for three. I know my 40 is a 4.46 from a dead start. Only thing is I’m 5′8 and by spring I plan to be around 180-185. When I was a sophmore in high school i was 5′4 120 playing backup runningback in varsity games. So being small never affected my game. I just want to know how I would go about walking-on and what are my odds

the odds dont matter wat matters is how hard you pursue it and your skill

Many of these questions are from people who I asked for ideas in part 2 (did that make any sense?)

1.If you could have a phone in any shape you wanted, what would it be? Ex. rubber ducky :]
2.If you could see a loved one who died again, what would you say to that person? Ex. I’d say how much I miss them.
3.What is your favorite music genre? Ex. rock/alternative/conutry/80’s/dance/techno/musical or theater sountracks (i know…thats like everything!)
4.What’s your favorite sports team and what sport? Ex. Texas Tech University or University of Houston-football and baseball!
5.What was your dream job when you were a kid? Ex. oncologist/musical theater actress/dance instructor with a studio (i’d be bu-seeey)
6.Can you say your abc’s backwards? Ex. No, but my friend can
7.Can you do suduko? Ex. Not
8.Can you do the rubiks cube? Ex. haha no, but that same friend can
9.Who would you pick. Mccaine or Obama? Ex. I have nothing against Obama I just think Mccaine has more expirience

The shape of a heart
I would say that I loved them SO much and that I wanted him to come down from heaven and be with my family and see what has happened in the 6 years that he has been gone
Country
Pittsburgh Steelers(football)
I wanted to become a veterinarian
Nope, I can’t
Not really, it’s fun just filling in the numbers though!!!!
No, but if I use the cheat thing online I can

they took rudy gay from yall. Memphis swept yall this year and year before that they lead the seris 3-1 so yall cant say it was because of the injuries. University of Memphis route U of Houston in football and basketball. I’m pretty sure if they had a MLB team they beat yall in that to. I’m from Maine i love both teams. What do u think about that?

nope

Im talking which states are the most football loving states. States that have NFL teams, College teams, and strong High School teams that are all not only good, but legendary and well known. Give reasons why you think these are the best states to represent football.

1. Texas- High School Football almost as popular as NFL and college and some small towns take it as seriously as religion. UT Longhorns, 2005-06 National Champs, Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans. Texas AM university.

2. Florida- Gators, Florida State Seminoles, Miami Hurricanes. Also have 3 NFL teams, and great High School programs, or so Ive heard from this kid who moved to my school from Fla.

3. Ohio- 2 NFL teams, Ohio State University. Home of NFL Hall Of Fame.

4. California- 3 NFL teams, USC, Cal Golden Bears, UCLA. You get the picture.

5. Cant think of a fifth. Sorry.

1) Texas. high School football is #1….too bad their academics (even after the "edycashun" guvnor Bush) are #47

2) Pennsylvania — look at all of the pros to have come from the hardscrabble towns there…QBs plus LB University!

3) Hard to argue with Ohio–high school and college (so what if their pro teams suck?)

4) Much as I hate cheaters (esp. Miami–Jerry Tarkanian should’ve coached basketball there, too!), Florida would be hard to argue with…

5) Wisconsin. Great kids in the HS and collegiate levels (check out the D-III Whitewaters and LaCrosse’s for example) plus the Badgers are always underrated.
Home of the Green Bay Packers–America’s Team with America’s Quarterback!

i’m in the third quarter, got a 1040 on the SAT for math and reading, and play varsity football sophomore-senior year. Do I have a chance at getting into UofH.

You have a chance. Some of this will probably depend on what you’re grades were like, how far you live from Houston, and possibly how good you were in football, if you’re good & plan to play in college. If you do go to school in Houston and you fall in love with it and decide to buy a house there, check out Taylor Morrison. They sell houses in the area and they have a free $25,000 sweepstakes on their web site. http://is.gd/eDHX

schools that i know use it are university of houston and its used some as an intro to football broadcast on TV

Hells Bells by AC/DC

Baylor, A&M, Rice, Houston, SMU, Tech, TCU, UTEP, AND Oklahoma! Holy Cow, that is a lot of talent sniping!!

They are great now. They would only upgrade a bit more. They are getting most of the "highly regarded recruits" from the state of Texas, most of the "talent" no going to UT is going out of state. a few examples of Texas high school football players that went elsewhere:

TOMMIE HARRIS- Oklahoma- 2001
Eric Winston- Miami- 2002
Adrian Peterson- Oklahoma- 2004
Rhett Bomar- Oklahoma- 2004
Matthew Stafford- Georgia- 2006
Ryan Mallett- Michigan 2007
Terrance Toliver- lsu- 2007

Those players on UT might have produced a few more Championships along withe the talent we already had/have!\
